Private Lessons Policy - Brian Scarborough

Expectations for Every Lesson:
1.) Students will have their instrument in good, working order.
2.) Distractions (cell phones, tablets, computers, etc.) must be put away and are not to be used during lessons.
3.) Students will have spent time outside of each weekly lesson preparing the assigned material.
4.) Assigned books/literature will be acquired in a timely manner and be available for all lessons.
5.) Students will bring a pencil and notebook to write down weekly assignments and other notes.
6.) Lessons will begin and end immediately on the quarter, half, or top of the hour. Lesson times will include any questions or discussion with parents/guardians.

Monthly Lesson rates
For once a week lessons, the monthly rates are….
$120 for 30 minute lessons
$160 for 45 minute lessons
$210 for 60 minute lessons

-These prices remain the same whether there are 3, 4, or 5 lessons per month. Over time, this averages out to 4 lessons per month.
-Payment is due for the entire month, at the first lesson of the month. Your monthly lesson payment reserves your lesson time for the month, therefore full payment is required regardless of attendance. No exceptions.

One-Off Lessons
If you are preparing for an audition, or would just like some instruction from a teacher other than your regular lessons instructor, you may call/email about setting up a one-off lesson. One-off lessons are 60 minutes and are $60 each.

24 Hour Cancellation Policy
If we have a scheduled lesson that is cancelled within 24 hours of the start time of that lesson, a make-up lesson will not be given. The 24 Hour Cancellation Policy will not be in effect for illness or other emergencies. Please notify me as soon as possible about these situations.

Make-Up/Rescheduled Lessons
Limited time exists for make-up/rescheduled lessons, but when possible they will be given. In the event you need to make up or reschedule a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible. This will allow more time for this lesson to be scheduled and gives you a better chance of securing a make up lesson time.

Due to my performance schedule here in Kansas City, there will periodically be times when I will have a performance that conflicts with our lesson time. If this happens, you will be contacted as far out as possible and a rescheduled lesson will be given.

-For home practice, a music stand and metronome/tuner should be available.
-Students are encouraged to practice as much as possible in an environment free of distractions.
-In the event you wish to discontinue lessons, 30 day notice must be given to the instructor.
-As students progress, the amount of material we try to cover increases. Advancing students can benefit from and are encouraged to consider longer lessons.
-Students are encouraged to maintain their lessons during the summer months. Due to travel plans, family commitments, etc., we can be flexible with lesson times to ensure continued musical growth.

Holidays/Weather Policy
-Lessons scheduled on or around holidays will be dealt with on a case by case basis. However, if the store is open, I will be available for lessons.
-Instances of bad weather will also be dealt with on a case by case basis. Please note that while schools may cancel classes for a day, the roads and weather may improve by our scheduled lesson time. Again, if the store is open, lessons will proceed as normal.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or
email the instructor.
